What do you do on campus?
I am in 7:30 choir in Dahlgren, I am the promotions director for WGTB, soon to be programming director. I’m an RA. I work at the RHO. I’m a mentor for the Pre-Med Society and on the marketing team for the Triple Helix. I’m also a cantor of the Catholic Ministry.
What are your plans after Georgetown?
I’m going to go to graduate school for either public policy or biochemistry. And then I’m maybe going to apply to medical school, hopefully. I want to go into dermatology. I love skin, I love pus and everything.
What do you hope Georgetown will help you accomplish?
I think it’s already helped me accomplish finding myself, and helping me ease into the real world, and also just having a degree from Georgetown is kind of a big deal.
What is it about Georgetown that makes you feel like you fit in?
I think I fit in because I love the overarching Catholic theme of the university and the Jesuit traditions we try to instill in each other, but also the air of openness we have on campus and the inclusivity for all different kinds of religions, sexual orientations, beliefs. It’s the pluralism in action is really what makes me love being here, and I don’t think you find that at a lot of other campuses.
What’s your favorite class that you’ve taken here?
That’s a hard one. I would say probably “Science and Religion”. It was my freshman seminar with Fr. Carnes, and it was awesome. I made a lot of friends and I learned a lot.
Compare and contrast where you’re from to Georgetown.
It’s like night and day. Coming from somewhere in the South where everyone knows your name and history from the day you were born and coming to Georgetown to make a name for yourself is amazing, and also the fact that there’s a lot of close-minded people where I’m from. But that can be said for anyone, no matter where they’re from, not just from the South. Coming here has been a realeye-opener and a lovely experience.
What’s your greatest fear?
I would say drowning. Drowning with fire. Fire and drowning together.
Favorite thing to order off of Grub Hub?
I most commonly order Wisey’s. But my favorite is the Hoya Burger from Wingo’s, because it has avocado in it.
Which television character do you see the most of yourself in and why?
Probably I’ll have to say Ms. Frizzle from “Magic School Bus” because I played her in the fourth grade play, and because she likes to explore new places and she’s crazy, like me.
What’s the biggest self-change you’ve made?
I think I really came out of my shell in college. In high school I could talk to anyone if I had to, I was very convivial, but I think coming here I’ve learned the art of connecting and conversing with others and really making them feel like you are spending time wanting to know what’s going on in their lives without just making small talk.
