What do you hope to get out of Georgetown?
I hope to get a great education coupled with memories that will last a lifetime.
And do you think you’re on your way?
I think I’m well on my way. As far as what contributes to that, I’d say first and foremost it’s the academics, and second it’s the community that Georgetown fosters, the people that call the Hilltop their home.
And what would you say your favorite class is that you’ve taken at Georgetown so far?
“Truth, Relativism and the Natural Law” with Fr. Fields. Fr. Fields is an outstanding person and lecturer. I’d listen to him lecture about anything, really. In this case, my favorite class is really dependent on the fact that he is my favorite professor. He’s really outstanding.
What is your favorite extracurricular at Georgetown?
I’m part of the Compass Fellowship, which is a social entrepreneurship organization that fosters better business practices and ingrains freshmen into a startup culture. Next year I’ll be a mentor, hopefully.
Would you say Davie, Fla., is home or Georgetown is home?
I’d say Georgetown, because 18 years in Florida is enough for anyone.
Have you ever consciously changed anything about your personality?
Yeah, lately I’ve tried to be more open about building relationships here, because I’ve realized that there are so many people here that not only want to be your friend but can influence your life in really positive ways, and you should let them in.
If you could lead a protest on any one thing, what would it be?
Better food at Leo’s for sure. I think anyone can get behind that. As far as a political issue, how about a counter protest against the Tea Party? Republicans don’t realize that they’re destroying themselves from the inside, and I like a competitive democracy.
Do you feel like anyone can fit in at Georgetown?
I think from the outside looking in, Georgetown can appear to be a very preppy, northeastern school. But when you get here you realize that there are opportunities for everybody to fit in and everyone and anyone is welcome, and, if you make a conscious effort to fit in, there will be people who accept you and you will be able to call yourself a member of the Georgetown community.
What is the best thing about Georgetown?
The friendships you build.
And what could Georgetown do better?
Allow for better access to the greater D.C. community.
