Do you feel obliged to be busy at Georgetown?
Yes, a lot of my classes require a heavy workload. I try my best to balance my social life with my academic life as much as I can. I don’t want college to be solely about grades and all-nighters.
What do you do?
I am currently working at the Georgetown bookstore. My coworkers are pretty neat and they only recently began accepting students. Next year I’m going to be an RA and an ESCAPE leader. I’m very excited.
What are your plans after Georgetown?
Hopefully law school. I’m really not sure what exactly I want to do, but I have a general idea of what’s next.
What do you hope Georgetown will help you accomplish?
I hope that it will prepare me for life beyond college and help me change into a well-rounded person in order to thrive later on in life. Four years from now, I don’t want to be the same exact person I was when I first stepped on campus.
Do you feel you fit in at Georgetown?
Most of the time.
What’s your favorite class you’ve taken at Georgetown?
It’s called “Homelessness and Social Justice.” Basically it’s looking at the whole issue of social justice through the lens of homelessness. It makes me realize how lucky I am. Homelessness is ridiculous … how can we let fellow human beings just live on the street?
What do you do to relax?
I like finding unique, beautiful outdoor study parts on campus. Part of me enjoys studying in an aesthetically pleasing location and the other part of me enjoys the actual process of finding the perfect place. I’m an adventurous spirit!
If you could lead a protest on one thing, what would it be?
Definitely bad recycling habits. It really isn’t that hard to recycle at Georgetown, given that the trash bins have labeled compartments for each type of waste. I have faith that Georgetown students are smart enough to differentiate between plastic and paper.
Where are you from? Compare and contrast it to Georgetown. Where are you more comfortable?
I’m just outside the city of New York. It’s obviously a lot smaller than Georgetown and the amenities of the city are different. The New York culture is very unique and is basically an amalgamation of cultures, whereas you probably will have an easier time trying to describe the Georgetown culture. I love D.C., but I’m a New Yorker at heart, mostly because of the Yankees.
