What do you do here on campus?
On campus, I’m involved in theater. I’ve done a play every year, some with Mask & Bauble, some with Nomadic, some co-pros. I’m also involved in the Georgetown Hawaii Club. I’m not Hawaiian. I’ve never been to Hawaii. Me and six of my friends joined freshman year to meet girls and we kind of loved it so much that we’re still involved. I’m the secretary of the Hawaii Club now and I will probably be on the board next year as well. I’m in NSO. I was an OA last year and I’m an OA this year, which is lots of fun. I have a radio show called the “Rollerblade Brigade.” We play a lot of electronic music. I guess the genre would be chill-hop. I’m also the social coordinator of GIVES.
What’s your favorite play that you’ve done?
I might have to say that it is “The Deep Blue Sea,” which was a play my freshman year. They actually made a movie of it a couple months after we performed the play, with Tom Hiddleston and Rachel Weisz. I played this alcoholic cad kind of guy who was a jerk and caused his wife to try to commit suicide. It was kind of a downer of a play. It was depressing, but the show got better as it goes on, and it was fun to play a drunk.
What’s your favorite thing about theater?
Definitely the community. The community is so awesome and supportive and loving and I made some of my closest friends in theater. It’s a great time.
Do you have any tips for anyone thinking about getting involved with theater?
Audition for everything. There’s so much theater that goes on at Georgetown. There’s a million opportunities to get involved so sign up.
What is your favorite class you’ve taken?
My favorite class might be a class I took freshman year. It was an Ignatius Seminar with professor Marcia Morris called “Monsters, Changelings and Shapeshifters.” We watched a bunch of really cool movies and read “Harry Potter” and we read all sorts of Russian literature. All of the subject material we covered was cool and interesting, but Professor Morris was wonderful in that she just cared about us, and cared more about making sure one of the first classes we ever took was meaningful and enjoyable.
What’s your greatest fear?
Geese. They’re terrifying.
What do you do for “me-time?”
A lot of Netflix. A lot of napping. I really like to read but unfortunately I have to not let myself read because I’m a binge reader. If I get a book I have to finish it in the next few days and do no work in the mean time. I also like hanging out with friends, and playing Pokémon. I play a lot of Pokémon, probably more Pokémon that someone 21-year-olds should play.
What’s your favorite play?
I really like Shakespeare. It’s so clever and witty, but also there’s a lot of emotion and humanity.
Do you feel you fit in at Georgetown?
Yes. Georgetown students to me are passionate about life and about things; they’re different things, but my favorite story to tell is about SAC fair. It’s amazing to go out on the lawn and see the hundreds of students just tabling for their organization and seeing how much people care about their different interests. It’s not something you see at different schools. It’s incredible to see how passionate and driven people are for issues they find interesting. I think it’s a wonderful community to be part of.
If you could lead a protest on one thing, what would it be?
There’s been a severe shortage of cups in the dining hall. Also apparently the other day was eat like a barbarian themed day because there was no silverware anywhere. I’d like to protest the lack of silverware at Leo’s. Not the staff of Leo’s, because they’re all wonderful. I’d also protest the lack of pesto pasta.
